Starting on 15-02-2009 a low emission zone ("Umweltzone") has been established in Duesseldorf to reduce air pollution in accordance with European law.
That means, if you want to drive with your car into the inner city of Duesseldorf you must have a low-emission-sticker (red, yellow, or green) displayed behind your front shield. In general, cars without a closed-loop catalytic converter or diesel cars which do not match euro 2 emission category (or better) will not get a sticker and therefore are not allowed to enter the city area.
Stickers are available at the local car registry office (Zulassungsstelle, Höherweg 101) or at garages authorized to perform emission tests. | | |
