Other means of transportation

There are about 1.300 taxis in Duesseldorf. You may order a taxi by phone (33333 or 99999) or pick up a taxi at a taxi stand, but you also have a chance to stop a vacant taxi (i.e. "Taxi"-sign on car-roof is lighted) in main streets, at least when there are no big events in the city. The actual prices: EUR 2,40 basic fare + EUR 1,48 / 1,63 per km (day / night).		Taxi
Walking: There are guided walking tours by Duesseldorf city guides also in english, french and other languages: "Düsseldorfer Stadtführer", Tel. 0177 / 428 35 48. Bike: There are not many bike lanes in Duesseldorf, but riding through side streets or along the rhine shore can be fun. A special bike map of Duesseldorf and its region is available at book stores. You can rent a bike at the following bike stores (at usual service hours): Rad ab, Friedrichstr. 112, Tel. 336661; Egert, Ackerstr. 143 Tel. 662134; Cycle-Service, Oberbilker Allee 57b, Tel. 340399. A special tip: what about a trip with a boat on the rhine? Regular service from Duesseldorf downtown to Kaiserswerth and several offers for special trips (infos only in german).
